The idea of publishing this book emerged from talks between the two authors and after Gilbert de Greeve published the series of Senading Tanah Airku, Arrangement on Indonesian Folksongs.
Although in this publication it concerns ‘original’ compositions, not arrangements, great consideration has been given to stay within the ‘life-world’ of children and youngsters. At the same time music attention has been paid to quality and good taste on the one side and to providing teachers and their students with a number of technical and musical ‘challenges’ that can be derived from the pieces.
